Calcite is a naturally layered stone, formed gradually over time. No two pieces are exactly alike. Each has its own colors, patterns, imperfections, and history. I love that imagery because, in many ways, it reflects how I think about people and the process of therapy.
Calcite is often associated with clarity, transformation, and growth. Those qualities beautifully reflect what I hope therapy can provide - not a transformation into someone new, but an opportunity to see yourself more clearly, understand and accept where you are, and decide intentionally where you want to go next.
We are all layered. We carry our experiences, relationships, losses, accomplishments, disappointments, responsibilities, and hopes with us. Often times those layers create strength and resilience. Other times, life becomes so crowded with expectations, worries, transitions, and the needs of others that it can become difficult to hear our own voice or recognize what we need.
Therapy offers a place to slow some of that down—to step back from the noise and make space to better understand ourselves, our experiences, and what we may need.
After more than 30 years of working with adolescents and adults, I have come to believe that some of the most meaningful changes aren’t dramatic. They happen gradually—in gaining perspective, setting a boundary, responding differently to an old pattern, accepting what cannot be changed, reconnecting with yourself, or taking one small step toward something that matters.
I created Calcite Wellness to offer a different kind of virtual therapy experience: personal, thoughtful, warm, and intentionally small. By maintaining a limited caseload, I am able to provide the kind of individualized, relationship-centered therapy that has always been important to me.
So, for me, Calcite Wellness is more than a name. It represents the belief that we can honor all the layers of who we are while continuing to grow.
Clarity - to move forward confidently
Strength - to believe in yourself
Resilience - to recover your balance
Perspective - to notice new possibilities
